This 2 part series aims to deepen learners understanding of the CEFR in a Canadian context primarily through considering the historical context of the CEFR as well as the framework’s influence here in Canada and most specifically in Ontario. The first module will enable learners to gain a better understanding of some of the historical tenets of the CEFR, will allow learners to be able to identify pedagogical theories and trends that led to the implementation of the CEFR in a Canadian context and will provide a list of resources to further your own personal research regarding the development of the action-oriented approach. The second module will enable learners to better understand the influence of the CEFR in Canadian education (primarily influences in Ontario), to identify CEFR principles in the revised FSL curriculum (2013/2014), to establish a clear link between the CEFR and the Ontario curriculum, to understand why the framework is significant (where and for who?) and to use the framework in the FSL classroom. Both modules are offered in either French and English. Modules take approximately 30 minutes each to complete.
